PantryChic App Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy — PantryChic
Effective date: October 20, 2026
Published by: Nik of Time, Inc., doing business as PantryChic ("PantryChic," "we," "us")
This policy describes how the PantryChic mobile app (the "App") handles information. The App is the companion app for the PantryChic Smart Storage System.
The short version: the App keeps your information on your phone. We do not collect it, receive it, or have access to it.
Information stored on your device
The App stores the following only on your device, in the App's private storage, so the App can work:
- Your profile — the name, email address, city, and state you enter when you first set up the App. The profile is used to greet you by name inside the App. There is no password and no PantryChic account; the profile never leaves your device.
- Your canister library — the labels you give your SmartCanisters, the custom ingredients you create (including your own grams-per-cup conversion values), the canisters you hide, and the ingredient links you teach the App (which canister to use for an ingredient).
- Your inventory — the on-hand list you keep in the App.
- Your recipes — recipes you enter yourself and any recipes saved to your library inside the App.
- Setup progress — simple on-device markers (for example, whether you have connected a base or completed a first dispense) that power the in-app setup checklist.
We do not operate a server for the App, and none of the above is transmitted to us or to any third party. We cannot see it, and we cannot recover it for you if you lose your device.
Bluetooth
The App uses Bluetooth only to communicate with your own PantryChic base unit — to read which canister is seated, to read the canister information your base stores, and to send the dispense amounts you enter. Bluetooth data travels directly between your phone and your base. On Android, the App requests Bluetooth permissions for this purpose only and does not use Bluetooth to determine your location.
Network requests: recipe photos, and recipe import
- Recipe photos. Recipe photos in the App are loaded from the websites that host them (for the built-in Chic Recipes collection, PantryChic's own site hosting). As with any image loaded from the web, the hosting site receives a standard image request, which includes technical information such as your device's IP address. We do not receive, store, or have access to those requests.
- Recipe import (when available). If you use a recipe-import feature and supply a recipe page's address (URL), the App fetches only the address you supplied, only when you ask it to, and saves the imported recipe on your device only. Imported recipes are never published, synced, or sent to us.
How information is used
Information stored by the App is used only on your device, only to provide the App's features: greeting you by name, remembering your canister labels and conversions so dispensing is accurate, remembering your ingredient links and inventory, and showing your recipes and setup progress.
Sharing
We do not share your information with anyone, because we never receive it. The App contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking, and it does not sell personal information.
Retention and deletion
Information stays in the App's storage on your device until you change or remove it:
- You can edit your profile, labels, custom ingredients, links, and inventory inside the App at any time.
- Deleting the App from your device deletes all information the App stored (subject to your device's own backup behavior — see below).
- App data may be included in your device's own backups (for example, an iCloud or Android device backup) under your own account with Apple or Google. Those backups are controlled by you and by Apple or Google; we have no access to them.
Children
The App is a companion to a kitchen appliance system and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, through the App.
Security
Because your information never leaves your device, its security rests on your device's own protections (passcode, biometrics, and operating-system app sandboxing). We encourage you to keep your device locked and up to date.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the App changes how information is handled — for example, by adding accounts or sync — we will update this policy and the App's store privacy disclosures before that version is released, and the updated policy will state what changed. The current version of this policy will always be available at https://pantrychic.com/pages/app-privacy-policy.
